Privacy Policy
This Privacy Statement describes how your personal information is collected, used, and shared when you visit or make a purchase/subscription from discoverymountain.com (the “Site”).
Who we are
Our website address is: https://discoverymountain.com.
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select "Remember Me", your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Who we share your data with
If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where we send your data
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
Data Collected to Manage Your Membership
At checkout, we will collect your name, email address, username, and password. This information is used to setup your account for our site. If you are redirected to an offsite payment gateway to complete your payment, we may store this information in a temporary session variable to setup your account when you return to our site.
At checkout, we may also collect your billing address and phone number. This information is used to confirm your credit card. The billing address and phone number are saved by our site to prepopulate the checkout form for future purchases and so we can get in touch with you if needed to discuss your order.
At checkout, we may also collect your credit card number, expiration date, and security code. This information is passed to our payment gateway to process your purchase. The last 4 digits of your credit card number and the expiration date are saved by our site to use for reference and to send you an email if your credit card will expire before the next recurring payment.
When logged in, we use cookies to track some of your activity on our site including logins, visits, and page views.
Tax Amount Charged for Recurring Subscriptions
All taxes are included in the price shown at checkout. For recurring subscriptions, there is a chance that the tax amount changes during the subscription. In those cases, the amount charged to you will NOT be updated to reflect the new tax amount.
Personal Information We Collect
We recognize the sensitive nature of your information. It is our highest priority to ensure the confidentiality of any information you provide and take a proactive approach in protecting your privacy.
When using our Site, you may provide us with Personal Data such as your name, address, phone number, and church affiliation.
Other Information We Collect
When you interact with our Site, we may receive and store information collected passively through various technologies used on our websites. This information is used to provide us with statistical information such as the number of visitors to a website(s) and the number of visitors to each page of our Site. Other information collected may include the IP address, browser type, ISP, pages you visit, operating system, and date/time stamps. This information is merely statistical and is not used to identify you.
Additionally, as you browse the Site, we collect information about the individual web pages or products that you view, what websites or search terms referred you to the Site, and information about how you interact with the Site. We refer to this automatically collected information as “Device Information.”
Cookie Settings
In operating this Site as described above, we and our third-party partners may use cookies (including temporary, persistent, and session cookies) and similar technologies. Our third-party partners may also use local storage (an HTML5 technology).
These technologies are used to provide additional functionality, analyze usage and behavior more accurately, temporarily store our pages and images, and store content and preferences.
We may also partner with third parties to either display advertising on our website or to manage our advertising on other sites. Our third-party partners may use technologies such as cookies to gather information about your activities on this website and other sites in order to provide you advertising based upon your browsing activities and interests.
How We Use Your Personal and Other Information We Collect
We may use Personal Data and other information to provide you with Services, send you updates, administer your account, communicate with you and your church/organization, enable you to connect with others, improve our Services, conduct research, understand your organization, send you valuable information and newsletters, and communicate with individuals and members of participating organizations. We will not reuse Personal Data for a new purpose other than the original one(s) for which it was collected, unless the following apply:
- The new use is compatible with the original one, meaning you should reasonably expect similar use;
- We have notified you of the new use and given you an opportunity to object to it; or
- The new use is otherwise permitted by law.
We use the Device Information that we collect to help us screen for potential risk and fraud (in particular, your IP address), and more generally to improve and optimize our Site (for example, by generating analytics about how our customers browse and interact with the Site, and to assess the success of our marketing and advertising campaigns).
By voluntarily providing us with your information, you are consenting to our use of it in accordance with this Privacy Statement. You acknowledge and agree that your data may be transferred from your current location to our servers or to authorized third parties as described in this Privacy Statement. We will not share your information with anyone not described in this Privacy Statement unless your consent is obtained prior to doing so. This Privacy Statement also describes the choices available to you regarding our use of your information and how you can access and update it.
If you wish to opt-out of receiving newsletters, you may also opt-out of such communication by following the unsubscribe link included in the emails.
Sharing Your Personal Information
We may provide your Personal Data to third-party service providers that help us with our business activities such as shipping, marketing, and payment processing. These companies are authorized to use your Personal Data only as necessary to provide these services to us. We do not sell your Personal Data.
For example, we use Stripe as our payment processor to power our online store–you can read more about how Stripe uses your Personal Information here: https://stripe.com/privacy. We also use Google Analytics to help us understand how our customers use the Site—you can read more about how Google uses your Personal Information here. You can also opt-out of Google Analytics here.
Finally, we may disclose your Personal Data if required to do so by law or in the good-faith belief that such action is necessary to: (i) comply with a legal obligation such as to comply with a subpoena, or a similar legal process; (ii) protect and defend the rights or property of the Voice of Prophecy and/or Adventist Media Ministries; (iii) act in urgent circumstances to protect the personal safety of users of the Services, visitors to our centers, or the public; or (iv) protect against legal liability. If the organization is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of its assets, you will be notified with a notice on our website of any change in ownership or uses of your information, as well as any choices you may have.
Security
The security of your information is important to us. We follow generally accepted standards such as encryption to protect the Personal Data submitted to us. We ensure that only the necessary persons have access to your data, that access to the data is protected, and that our security measures are regularly reviewed.
Retention
We will retain your Personal Data for as long as your account is active or as long as the data may be reasonably useful for other organizational purposes. We will retain and use your information as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. We will dispose of your information when it is no longer needed or required to be kept.
Your Rights
If your personal information changes, you no longer desire to use our Services on our Site, or you wish to know whether we hold personal information about you, you may correct, update, amend, and delete such information and cancel Services by accessing the pertinent menus (User Profile, Memberships, Subscriptions, Account Details, Payment Methods, etc.) which are accessible in the dashboard area of your account. The dashboard area is accessible via the following link: https://www.discoverymountainclub.com/my-account.
Third-Party Links
Our websites and applications may contain links to other websites or features that may connect with your other mobile applications on your device. Privacy practices of linked websites and mobile applications may differ from ours. If you submit any personal information on these websites or applications, your information is governed by their privacy practices. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of such websites before submitting any personal information.
Do Not Track
Please note that we do not alter our Site’s data collection and use practices when we see a Do Not Track signal from your browser.
Children and COPPA
We are committed to providing an online experience for children that is safe and rewarding. In accordance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), we strive to safeguard the privacy of children who visit our website. Personal information is defined under COPPA as “individually identifiable information,” information that helps others to identify a particular person. The following is information about what data we collect, how we use it, who has access to it, and what parents’ and legal guardians’ rights are with regard to the collection, storage, and use of their child’s personal information.
Visitors to the Discovery Mountain Club site under age 13 are free to access the site without disclosing any personal information, with the exception of the optional "Contact" form which requires an email address. On the contact page listeners are asked "If you're under age 13 please ask your parents or guardian to write to us."
Before children under age 13 will be permitted to disclose personal information to participate in any contests or faith-building activities, we require consent from a parent or legal guardian. In order to do this, we will ask the child to provide the email address of a parent or legal guardian. With this information, we will email the parent or legal guardian and request consent for the collection and use of the child’s personal information. Parents or legal guardians will need to follow the link provided in the request email and provide their consent. Parents or legal guardians will receive an email confirming their consent. Once consent is given, the child will be permitted to participate in any contests or faith-building activities.
Parents or legal guardians who provide consent to the collection and use of their child’s personal information may revoke that consent at any time by simply sending an email with that request.
Personal information of parents or legal guardians will never be sold.
Changes
We may update this Privacy Statement from time to time in order to reflect, for example, changes to our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We encourage you to periodically review this page for the latest information on our privacy practices.
